Jane and Maura in a cheap photobooth. Jane isn’t being a sarcastic grump for a change, and not only happily agrees to take some photobooth photos with Maura, but ends up being a total goofball about it. They each take a copy of the photos, and Maura puts hers up on the fridge at home. She never sees Jane’s in her apartment after it happens and just assumes that Jane has stashed them somewhere, forgotten about. Somehow, for all her scientific intuition, Maura never realizes that they’re in Jane’s wallet so she always has them with her. She never sees because the only time Jane permits herself to look at them is when she’s in the car with Frost, especially when they’re in the middle of a tough case. She finds they calm her down, keep her sane.
Jane thinks Frost doesn’t notice. He does. He just doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t ask about them either. He sees the small smile tugging at Jane’s lips, and that’s all the answers he needs.
